Returning documents, loss or damage
Returning documents
Please return loaned documents, including those from the open shelves, to the loans desk or place them in the HERBIE book box. Returning documents or extending loans after the loan period incurs a late fee and a fee for the sending of reminders: each document incurs a fee of 1 Crown for each day it is late. After 7 days, you will receive the following for each loaned document:
- 1.reminder………………..5 Crowns
- 2.reminder……………….15 Crowns (sent after 30 days)
- 3.reminder………………..80 Crowns (sent after 60 days)
- Pre-court summons……..100 Crowns (sent after 90 days; the reader’s library membership card and all other services are blocked until the documents are returned or replaced).
Unpaid fees block the reader from using the library’s services and may result in legal action.
Loss or damage of a loaned document
Loss or damage of a loaned document must be reported immediately at the loans desk. By completing and signing a document loss form, the reader is obliged to compensate the document as per the Library Regulations. We usually ask for an identical publication of the document or a copy, unless the loans department manager decides otherwise. A handling fee is charged for the processing of the document by the library; other fees associated with the loss of the document (copying and binding fees, interlibrary loans, reminders) may also be charged.
