The issuing of ordered documents, loan period

Ordered documents are reserved for you to collect for a period of 8 days; they are issued to you when you present us with a valid SVK PK library membership card. The loan period is usually 30 days, unless advised otherwise as per the Library Regulations. You accept the loaned document/s by signing a loan protocol, a copy of which you receive while the original is archived.
It is not possible to order documents from the open shelves section of the library. These documents may be selected directly from the shelves. You may borrow them at the loans desk where you will receive a loan protocol which you must sign, or you may use the self-service workstation Selfcheck where you scan the documents yourself and receive loan confirmation.
Documents, including audio and video, are loaned free of charge. You may loan a document for a maximum period of 90 days (or 45 days in the case of audio documents), after which it must be brought to the library for rescanning.

Extending loans

Before the end of the loan period, you may extend it online via your reader’s account, or you may ask in person at the loans desk with your membership card, or you may phone the library on 377 306 919 (stating the call number/s of the loaned document/s and your library membership card number). A standard loan period of 30 days applies to all library users but excludes media loans. If the loaned document has not been reserved by another reader, its loan period may be extended. The maximum length of a loan period is 90 days. Guidelines for the ordering and extension of documents can be found under appropriate headings in User Aids.
